After only 69 days of development, Linus Torvalds has <a rel="external" href="http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/1113127" target="_blank">released</a> version 2.6.38 of the Linux kernel. Among this kernel's advancements is a process scheduler modification that has become known as the "wonder patch"; this allows desktop environments to respond considerably faster under certain conditions.

<a href="http://cruxppc.org/">CRUX PPC</a> 2.7 is now available. It works on Apple 32bit "NewWorld" G3/G4 and Apple 64bit G5, Genesi PegasosII and Efika, Acube Sam440ep, YDL Powerstation, IBM Intellistation POWER and IBM Power Systems servers.

Since yesterday the people in the MintPPC forums know that MintPPC not only runs great on 32-bits G3 and G4 machines, but that it equally runs nicely on 64-bits G5 powered Macs. Bongo_x is the first user who got MintPPC 9 installed on a PowerMac G5. He told us that he was very surprised how the Debian system automatically recognized the two wireless printers in his house, which can be seen in the <a href="http://mintppc.org/files/Screenshot-8.png">following picture</a>.
