Linux Mint Debian 201109 is out

The Linux Mint development team has announced the arrival of two new versions of the Debian-based edition of the Linux Mint operating system with the GNOME and Xfce desktops. According to the developers, Linux Mint Debian 201109 offers all of the same features found in <a href="http://www.h-online.com/news/item/Linux-Mint-11-Katya-released-1250921.h... title="Linux Mint 11 "Katya" released – 26 May 2011">Linux Mint 11 "Katya" from May of this year, as well as a number of installer improvements such as support for keyboard variants and locales.
The 32-bit versions of Linux Mint Debian include a 486 kernel, which does not by default support SMP, to "guarantee compatibility with non-PAE processors". Users with systems that have multi-core CPUs or multiple CPUs are advised to install the 686-PAE kernel and restart to detect the extra cores or processors. Other changes include GTK2/GTK3 theme compatibility and various package updates.
Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) is a rolling release that replaces the distribution's standard Ubuntu base with Debian's testing branch. The project's goal is to keep the LMDE release as identical as possible to the main edition and to provide the same overall functionality, while being fully compatible with Debian.
Further information about the releases, including a list of known problems, can be found in a post on the Linux Mint Blog. Linux Mint Debian 201109 with GNOME or Xfce are available to download for 32- and 64-bit systems from one of the project's mirrors.
